Bank holiday

Thank you for staying interested and supportive.
Theo has just about recovered from the yeast infection and the new drug appears to have had some positive effect (along with the diuretic) as his chest is draining next to nothing, his puffiness and fluid retention has just about vanished and he is peeing plenty. We are all relieved about this - also his blood pressure and heart rate have been as good as we've seen since he was admitted.
No change to his damaged left ventricle but this was always going to be a slow story - the immediate problems of the lungs and liver were more of a concern. The consultants have given him a second dose of immunoglobulins - which we keep referring to as immune goblins - which have been shown to help sometimes with myocardial damage. So its a shot in the dark but hopefully will hit the target.

He has been wide awake much more in the last few days. He's really lovely and responsive - and although he will be delayed developmentally, he's all there. And should eventually catch up. I have this current fear that the nurses will see his first smile etc before we do and I suppose that's ok but I hope they pretend they havent and when we see it the first time, that will be the FIRST time.
Have a lovely bank holiday - or have had one.

Colin & Willow,

Glad to see there is a marked improvement with Theo and fingers crossed that things continue that way. Our thoughts are with you constantly.

The blog is an ideal way of keeping everyone informed and gives you more time with Theo, who is a little fighter.

Take care and our best wishes to you all, love Karen & Kath (work)xx
