Over the weekend Theo has remained stable and he has been weened off his sedation. It's really nice to see him awake for the first time in two weeks. Eventhough he can now wake up, has a bit of a look around for a short while before going back to sleep, he is still very ill. There's been no improvement to his heart function and we have to continue to wait and see if his body can start to repair itself.
His stomach is now a lot less bloated but his chest still has a lot of fluid that is having to be drained from either side which isn't very nice. Until this fluid situation starts to improve he will continue to be fed intravenously as this will reduce the strain on his stomach/chest.
Also, his ventilator tube has been changed today and now goes up his nostril rather than through his mouth. Apparently it's more comfortable for longer term use though it looks a bit strange.
We take every day as it comes, at least he's now almost two weeks older that he would otherwise have been - that's a good thing.

Great to see his eyes open - and beautiful eyes they are too. I wonder what he makes of it all?
In medicine, stability is a very good thing.
Hope you're all coping ok. Thinking of you all every day. Sally, Peter & Delyth
