Slow but steady progress

Hello fans!

Mummy has got some new photos for everyone to giggle at. I am working on a cool hairdo..well, I seem to be losing so much I have to make the most of my quiff.

My doctors are pleased with my progress. Bit by bit the ventilator machine settings are being weaned down and mostly I manage really well.

Sometimes the extra work I have to do leaves me feeling pretty sleepy. It's not good news if I have to work too hard to breathe because it uses up precious calories - and of course, I need to grow big and strong.

I have started reaching out for toys and nice bright things. Mummy, Daddy and the play specialists at the hospital are trying to keep me interested and stimulated when I am awake to make sure my brain keeps learning as it should. To tell the truth its amazing I can do much at all when you think how many drugs I need and how many hours I have spent ill, sedated and paralysed. I have started to enjoy playing and could watch my mobile and lights for hours but I also like rattles and mirrors and soft teddy (or giraffe) ears.

Mummy has been able to give me a proper bath - no mean feat when there is a tracheostomy involved. There is a major problem if any bathwater got inside -can you imagine breathing in bathwater - thats what it would be like. I could even drown, so it's really important people take great care. But it is worth it because I really like it and it makes me really sleepy.

On Bonfire night, November 5th, the ladies at Tabitha's playgroup 'PLAYTIME' will be hosting a cake sale to raise a bit of money for Mum and Dad to help pay for childcare, fuel and parking. It is about 60 miles to and fro each day, plus approx 6 hours of parking fees plus childcare for 3 days a week. So although mum and dad are taking it in their stride, every little kind gesture that people make, become big boosts to their morale.

Next week I should be back on the frozen reserves Mum has been setting aside for me. Hopefully it will help my poor tummy and I can absorb it better. It also has magic ingredients for my brain, eyes and immune system - and don't they need all the help they can get?

Bye for now,

Love Theo x

I am Amy Lockton's friend and she told me about Theo and this blog. I will be keeping Theo in my thoughts, his story is so heart breaking and touching at the same time. Best of luck to your entire family. Even us over in America and rooting for him! ~Trish
