I know there are a number of loving friends and relatives who check our blog for family news and this is one reason I carry on adding posts. However, I can't help wondering if you are all as bored and fed up as I am, at reading how Theo is yet again in hospital, keeping us at wits end.
In fact, I think we should name our residence 'Wit's End'.
So over to the news; Theo is back in hospital. On Friday we saw his consultant for a brief review for I had been concerned about his secretions. Chest examination concluded that his lungs are good. Dr Pandya inquired how we are as a family and I replied with a sigh that we are sick of to-ing and fro-ing to hospital and that while we have accepted that this is our life, not quite like anyone else's, it is still a tremendous drain.
On Friday night, Theo was vomiting and full of secretions and kept me awake. Saturday morning he was drowsy and coughing, feverish and miserable. Colin came back from work at lunchtime, took one look and we agreed he needed to be checked over by the hospital doctors. You may wonder why we don't go to the gp or walk in centre - they take one look at his notes and send us to hospital.
While he was being examined, the doctors found a nice red non blanching rash all over his torso - so now he is being treated for suspected meningitis, as well as whatever else they frighten themselves over. I stayed in with him last night and most of today but have had to leave him tonight. He's been feverish and grumpy all day and we won't know test results until tomorrow.
I have been recently very confused as how we are supposed to cope with all of this. I've gained so much weight and can't seem to find any motivation or self control. Colin's the same. Theo was only discharged 2 weeks ago and we were just about getting things back in order and looking forward to Christmas with him at home. I am really tired of trying to find optimism everywhere and yet he may even be well enough to come home tomorrow!

Oh dear. Call/email me if you want to chat.

We all have our fingers crossed that Theo is home again very soon so you can all have a lovely Xmas together. Love Mike, Elaine, Nath and Kay xxxx
I'm not surprised you're all struggling - Theo included. No normal people could breeze though. I think you're doing so well just to get up in the morning, let alone the rest.
It's also very normal to question your judgement. (I do all the time, and I've only got two babies!). Hope I don't sound patronising, it's just easy to lose yourself amid the chaos at 'Wit's End', and I hope some recognition that you have to climb Everest every day might reassure you that you're doing an amazing job, even if you don't feel like it.
Colin has my no. if you ever want a chat.
Sally xx
