Theo is suspected to have bronchiolitis - this is an inflammation of his airways that makes it very difficult for him to breathe. It is caused by a simple virus which most of us catch during the winter months but is particularly dangerous for a few vulnerable groups of people - especially cardiac babies. He HAS been vaccinated against it but this only means he won't succumb to it as badly. We were sent away from the Ward this morning (in fact I wasn't allowed in as have been ill) and all visitors were banned. There is a strong possibility Theo will return to CICU for a while if he does not respond to treatment.
He has been sedated once again with chloryll and given antibiotics until they are certain what has caused it. His heart rate (which is usually about 140) climbed to 200 - not seen that since he was first admitted into PICU and his breathing support has once again become breathing control.
We are very worried about our poor little boy - mostly concerned that he can't be feeling so good - but it is nothing more or less than we have been told to expect.
Keep praying, crossing fingers etc.
Willow
